A Clockwork Orange
Art is used in many different ways, uniting itself with real life and interacting with reality. Detaching from the real world and isolating from other people is well known to Alex and some of the other characters. In the violence towards Mr. Alexander's wife, Alex turns debauchery into song and dance, running from the victim's suffering and justifying his brutality. The lady murdered by Alex, brings her sexuality to life through art. She makes it a non touchable object, freeing it from the role of an action that requires just that - touching.
Violence and sex is made to look unreal. Kubrick makes sure the viewers pay attention to the fact they're looking at a work of art.
Alex gives his violent impulses full control over his body, decisions and actions. He gives absolute freedom to them, making him more human. Alex is more alive than the other characters. With the eradication of his aggressive traits, he becomes less human.
The freedom for individuals to make their choices, becomes obstacle for the stability and safety of society. When the violent impulses are replaced with forced good ones, due to freedom of choice being taken away it turns evenly destructive.
