Parasite
Over the past couple of years, I’ve dedicated a good chunk of my free time to exploring a director’s filmography before their new movie hits theaters. I’ve throughly enjoyed discovering movies and franchises from absolute legends like Ridley Scott, Richard Linklater, The Coens, David Fincher, Wes Anderson, and many others.
I gotta say, exploring Bong Joon-Ho’s career has been my coolest adventure yet. All of his movies have practically blown away my expectations — with Parasite being the latest example.
Sometimes it can be difficult for me to process and/or watch a movie for the first time when it already has such a high reputation, especially a more recent film. It can genuinely be intense and really even intimidating at times.
In the case of Parasite, hundreds of millions of people have already seen and crowned this movie as one of the best things ever put to film. Putting movies aside, sometimes it’s hard for any piece of media to live up to its historic reputation.
But — It brings me nothing but joy to report that I absolutely agree with every single bit of praise that this masterpiece has received over the years. It’s so fucking cool that this thing won Best Picture.
