The Help
Wow this movie really hit me hard. It really shows how brutally unfair life was for black women in the 60s.They worked so hard raising white families kids, cleaning their homes doing practically everything and they were still treated like they were less human, absolutely heartbreaking. They were constantly walking on eggshells afraid to speak up or be themselves. What really got me was how normalized the hatred and separation was. Bathrooms, buses, schools… everything was divided. And even though it’s been decades I couldn’t help but think how some of that racism still lingers today. It’s more hidden now but it’s there. The movie really did a good job on showing how brave those women were on telling their stories. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone!
