Crash
Where do I even start?
Crash isn’t a movie you put on for an enjoyable evening - it’s one you watch when you’re ready to question everything. Where is the line between pleasure and pain? Does it even exist? What happens when all the boundaries disappear?
What makes this movie so compelling is its ability to repulse you while forcing you to confront a darker reality you might prefer to ignore. But perhaps knowing is necessary to fully understand life?
Unlike many intense films, it doesn’t desensitize you to sex and violence - it does the opposite. It’s made in a way that prevents the viewer from identifying with the characters, or even sympathizing with them, while still allowing for one to go on a journey filled with disturbing voyeurism. It’s an experience which may not be great for your comfort zone, but is great for expanding your knowledge and helping you acknowledge that the world, especially people are far from perfect.
Sometimes it’s good to watch something that confuses you. You know?
