The Fly

wait what? that was genius. This movie did to me what Alien did to me the first time I watched it. At first you think it’s some tragicomedy. I mean come on, a dude merging with a fly and then turning into a manfly? The concept is so absurd and some of the first “abnormal” imagery that shows up just makes you giggle because it’s so kitschy. But then things start to get serious, and all of a sudden it turns out that manfly is no longer funny, he’s just a complete freak of nature, a complete abomination from a humans point of view. And that’s when you realize this was no tragicomedy - this is just straight up tragic. Heartbreaking even. Looove the way the tension was built up slowly but intensely throughout the film.
