Sing 2
Fantastic film, I don't care what anyone on here says. My film taste might just be actual hot garbage, but if a movie makes me feel things intense deep within my chest, then I just have to love it.
Although the first Sing is pretty good, this one steps it up in every regard. The gorilla (Johnny) sings more songs, which I liked because he has the best voice out of the whole cast. Scarlet Johannsen had a great role within the film, all her songs were great... the Lizard old lady made me laugh and made my mom laugh, which gives some bonus points.
But the main things I really just love is Buster Moon himself. His story, his passion for moving forward and never letting hardships of the world stop him is just... God, it's so good. I dont own a theater, nor is my father dead, but he's just so relatable to me specifically. I could watch this entire film all the way through just to see the ending sequence at the end where he looks so proud of what he's done a dozen times and still feel the same burst of emotion I felt the first time.
The stakes in this movie is greater? Moon literally almost gets thrown off a skyscraper at one point, then actually gets thrown off the top of a stage at another. The showbiz plots had me hooked from start to finish, helped by the intimidating villain that stars in this movie. I can't remember his name but I won't forget his presence. The singing sequences are all really great, better than the first. Small thing, but the flamingos that sing Cake on the Ocean near the beginning did a stellar job, honestly one of my favorite parts of the movie.
There's so much I could gush about here. Like how the movie has a great commentary on how rich companies have such a tight grasp over creative endeavors in mediums like film. The only reason the show got picked up in this movie is because they got a famous celebrity, which is way too accurate for most films these days. It has a good depiction of grief and how it strips all your motivation and passion away... and it's also just a lot of fun! I always have a fun time watching this movie, never fails to keep me entertained. So, though my opinion is probably stupid, this movie makes me feel happy and that's all that matters to me.
