Wonder Man

Marvel NEEDS more like this, Simon and Trevor is a pairing I never knew I needed. Wonder Man is so different from every other project but it does work, it intrested me from the first scene. Unlike majority of Marvel movies or shows, this one actually lets the emotion play-out, You will feel for these characters. This is a character, dialogue heavy story, the MCU spectacle doesn't matter here, and CGI is barely used. Simon's powers are hardly shown or utilised whatsoever and I love that, because they don't affect the story. I never found the meta jokes or references all that annoying, infact, the jokes were balanced really well with the overall theme of the show, and they didn't take away from the message. Disney taking the piss out of themselves, their shows, and the movie making industry as a whole was not on my 2026 bingo card. If I had to complain, I found the Mandarin twist in episode 8 quite cheap, a cop-out. Like everyone knows The Mandarin is an act, it's brought up throughout the show, every side character knows Trevor as The Mandarin, they should know his return is also an act, surely? Episode 7 set up the finale well, but the conclusion felt very underwhelming. I'm so glad this wasn't a tax write-off. This show just solidifies my high expectations for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and that Deston Daniel Cretton is definetly the man for the job. One of the best Marvel shows. I know that's not really saying much but I've got to give credit where it's due, this show is actually good, it's really good. Please watch it. First Marvel project of 2026 was a unexpected, big success. Marvel is on a roll. R.I.P Josh Gad.
