Something I thought about this movie when I was younger was "wow, this is paced really poorly." I still stand on that opinion. Good job younger me. You were destined to criticize kids movies on an app one day. Pacing's terrible, some exposition feels really heavy handed, and it feels rushed from point to point. This movie is still really close to my heart, I watched it so many times growing up, but I just think it needed some more time in the movie to flesh some stuff out way more. Twist villain is also not the greatest. This is also my 300th movie on Letterboxd. Been about a year I've been doing this, and it's been great. Here's to more

The story, acting, and score are all excellent. But man, the pacing is absolutely terrible. You would assume that once you find out that we are learning about these three characters' history, you readjust yourself and the rest flies by. However, that's not the case. The non-linear storytelling is jagged, intrusive, and slows the entire movie down. It's interesting to learn about the characters, but it feels like it takes forever. This 2-hour movie feels like 3 hours. As for each of the characters, none of them are really characters you want to root for, and I really liked that. Obviously, you can peel back the layer and see how Tashi is making them play for her, which is why I dislike her the most This is also so incredibly horny. I was not expecting that, and didn't particularly enjoy it

AGAMEMNON WE SEE THE FIT DAMN Ok I've had a while to think about the movie so I'm going to make my thoughts. Basically everything about this movie is unbelievable. The cinematography, pieces, sound design, the ACTING?? It's almost impeccable for everything we see happen. I've read The Odyssey twice, once in high school a few years ago and again last fall for my Global Literature course. (I'm an English major so this was my JAM.) Nolan is very immersed in it and makes some really good changes. I wish we could've seen more of his cleverness (it's there but not emphasized a lot) and his hubris, even though I do love the arc that they put Odysseus on. It's very raw and incredible. Telemachus doesn't get as much development as I would've loved, but such is the nature of film. Some things fall to the wayside, and I think he still wraps into the plotline very well. Penelope is INCREDIBLE. This has been a year for supporting actresses, with Inde Navarette and now Anne Hathaway (though Inde could totally go for actress in a leading role.) Anne Hathaway's acting is so incredibly visceral. I love it. I love the Antinous stuff and how they expand on his story as the lead suitor. It's genuinely great. There's a lot more small changes that I love as well (many things we discussed in my course last fall of things that Homer kind of had an oversight on are fixed and much better imo) I've got a couple negatives. Obviously, there are some more stuff I would've liked to see, and I think Nolan could've pulled the focus off of some stuff to iron it out. Also, I don't think Matt Damon's acting is incredible here. I think he's definitely the weakest part of the cast and regularly gets acted circles around. He's not bad, but I wish he was better. The more I think about it the better it gets. I need to make the drive and go see it in IMAX for sure.

I am so incredibly excited for Brand New Day. The ending is such a gut punch. Tom's acting is spectacular. The movie is quite gray in the daylight scenes, but I don't care that much, it's a pretty good story and I enjoyed it a lot.
