Jojo Rabbit
this was…amazing.
i don’t know how to describe what i feel about this movie. this is one of those movies where it’s so covered with sunshine and rainbows that underneath it—it’s just dread.
so funny yet so sad? i feel really bad for jojo. actually, for all of them. rosie, elsa, yorki, and those two nazi soldiers who guided jojo from the very start. they were all people under and abused by the system. they deserved so much better compared to what they had gone through. thank god elsa and yorki got a somehow happy ending. for the others, not so much. the way rosie was removed from the narrative shocked me. i was sooo fucking gagged.
jojo. jojo. jojo. you are such a strong man (child). there were moments that i can’t believe a child was forced to experience. how much the war affected jojo and his family really had a toll on him. the self-hatred, disgust, gaslighting—these were all the things jojo would suck up and live a false narrative just to make him sane and included to what’s happening around him. this was supposed to be a comedy movie about world war ii and the holocaust, why is this sooo fucking deep. i mean, it does tap into sensitive topics that happened within history but goddamn.
jojo baltzir, you are officially my second favorite little brother after young percy jackson.
