The Florida Project

“The doctor said we have asthma and have to eat ice cream right away,” Once again Baker turns narrative into a lifelike documentary, letting us fall deeper into the underbelly of the storyline with perfect originality brought by an off-budget, realistic scene + unknown actors/characters with insane abilities. The Florida project depicts the demise of a young child who would eventually grow into a dysfunctional adulthood just like her mother, constantly on the defence, brought to poverty and desperation, utterly unpredictable and victimised responses. The Disneyland scene ends us off with this perfect break of aesthetic highlighting moonee’s escape to preserve her innocence. Proving there may just be a happy ending around the corner.
