objectively again i feel like this wouldn’t be a 3 star if id watched it alone this falls into the trap of really struggling to give you any sort of stakes with a character like john wick, if you set your guy up as the literal boogeyman for assassins, not even having every single assassin against him can work for the plot unless you’re prepared to off him. there’s some cool moments, credit where credits due, but it just feels like sometimes it wants to have an actual plot and do some cool lore and worldbuilding and other times goes “wait we don’t have to do that, we’re a john wick film, let’s have twenty minutes of gratuitous violence” (which works if you enjoy gratuitous violence, but if it’s not your thing it’s probably going to be twenty minutes of eye rolling and sighs)  it also rlly pmo that the sword guy didn’t get his swan song as they had to make john do an objectively cooler 2v1 beforehand with the same plot of “these guys think it’s cool they’re fighting john wick”  jack crawford is phenomenal as always, laurence fishburne honestly deserves an oscar just for always being there for me (see; matrix, john wick)  the dogs are cute too

honestly this could’ve really been a 2.5 but i felt bad about it. i just don’t care? like that’s really bad but the first one it’s very satisfying when he kills people because we’re all on board with this vengeance mission, whereas this one it’s kinda just like. oh look, he’s killed more people. like yeah it looks sick and the fights are all choreographed really well and shit, but it’s just a lot harder to keep interest if you’re not that big on that (which i’m not) like i say, some cool moments all in all a solidly watchable film im just not as invested as i was for the first

would’ve been a solid 4 star but i’m so upset about the other dogs that he left there???? bro take all of them and build an army tf???? anyway totally reasonable reaction, anyone who’s owned a dog just understands they didn’t even have to include the shit about the dead wife it could’ve just been the dog n that still would’ve been so valid
