Marty Supreme
THIS WAS INSANE. my absolute favorite movie release of this year, a true 5/5!!
i’ve been dying to see more of timmy’s acting range; nickolas highlighted that a lot of timmy’s recent roles (e.g. bob dylan biopic) are not original characters but are instead impressions
this film is a nonstop sequence of fight or flight; there’s not a scene where i feel bored as marty’s life rarely gets a break
although not the kind of person i’d want to be in real life, my favorite thing about marty is that he is so self-centered and self-serving in his decision-making. despite the fact that everyone around him suffers the consequences of his recklessness, he shows no redeeming qualities of self-awareness. he is relentlessly and selfishly determined with his eyes set on his table tennis dreams. he is shamelessly contradictory, changing the course of actions based on how it will serve him in the moment (no i wont do this! —> yes i will do this!) from my perspective, i enjoy his lack of redemption, and that he instead moves full speed. timmy does an EXCELLENT job portraying marty in this way
an asshole for sure, marty is also charming; i especially love the scene of his first ever phone call with gwyneth paltrow @ the ritz
funnnn acting debut by tyler the creator
