ending genuinely gave me a pit in my stomach fuck man

While it is a shame that this movie could have been even better without all of the legal issues and tampering with the story from the Jackson estate, I don't think Michael is as bad as everyone has been saying it is. The movie is obviously at it's best and is immensely well-directed during the concert recreations, where Jafaar really encapsulates Michael and his unbelievable stage presence. At other points, the movie's direction and editing can sometimes come off as a bit iffy and awkward, which in some scenes might be the intention, but in other scenes it's definitely just mediocre direction. While Jafaar does a great job depicting Michael, the movie does paint him as a bit too perfect a person where that was much the contrary in reality. Colman Domingo does an unbelievable job playing Joe Jackson. Even when his performance feels a bit caricature-like, he still comes off as an irredeemable asshole that you just want to strangle. Now, the elephant in the room with this movie is it's tactical dodging of the sexual abuse allegations against Michael Jackson, which it avoids by ending the film in 1988. If they do go forward with making a sequel to this movie, I really hope they face the allegations and address them properly like they should be. The subject of any biopic should not be painted as a near-flawless human being.
