Melodramatic romance lover :) - every review I write is just a personal diary at this point <3 Just for fun, connection and to live like the movies! "I revealed too much too soon. I was emotionally slutty." - Carrie Bradshaw (Me in every review I write about my fav genre of movies sad romances and girl idk who I am movies)

Warning TLDR: basically me just having a little Celine moment using my letterboxd as a personal diary and writing the longest review ever with a lot of rambling/incoherent thoughts! (But hey have to get a little use out of my film degree, I kinda in a weird way miss writing essays about my fav movies) This movie feels so special in my heart that it is impossible for me to fully put into words what I am feeling, I have written like an essay in my notes app (yes I am that much of a nerd to write long drafts/notes before I write my reviews haha) even though I have so many thoughts, I just don't know how to connect any of them this is becoming so meta lol. What I love about this one compared to the first movie is that the conversations feels more real and honest. I think It’s because it’s their second meeting and years have gone by and some of the initial feelings have subsided that they can now have a true honest conversation. Their feelings are no longer casting as much of a expectation on the situation. When you meet someone for the first time you can only rly get a small glimpse of them and they will only ever see the “perfect” polished side of you and if they are anything like me an enfp aka a person driven by their big emotions there is a tendency to put a lot expectations and dreams into every small little detail. This film strips away all that youthful naiveté and gives a bittersweet but honest conversation which I love but also terrifies me! I am currently around the same age/life stage they were in the first movie basically the quintessential young 20ish experience. I just got my acceptance letter from uni, just got home from my first big travel without family and for the first time rly dabbed in the dating scene so I am very much as idealistic and naive as them in the first one! *“I feel I was never able to forget anyone I’ve been with because each person had their own specific qualities”* Maybe I can only say this bc I am young and the hard lessons hasn’t really hit me yet but I hope I never become so jaded or too afraid to put all my feelings into every new person/situation that will come my way in the future even if I sometimes have to fall head first into it and learn some hard lessons along the way. it’s terrifying being vulnerable and not really having anything figured out especially in this generation but also again this is the most young 20s experience ever so I am so glad to get this opportunity and to still be as optimistic and happily lost as they were in the first movie and I am excited to glow with this movie trilogy. Anyways it’s late I have barely proof read it and idk if any of this makes any sense :p Funny side note I love how neurotic Celine is bc it makes me feel less crazy, her comments about getting murdered or all her irrational thoughts about anything is something I have totally said or thought.

This brings me back to the rly bad gangster movie I made in school, we used this movie for inspo. We challenged ourselves to only speak in our broken cantonese, ran around trying to film every neon sign we could find. I tried rly hard to teach myself colorgrading skills to make it green and we were filming in the rainy dark winter but oh we were so young and free! Part 1 of me trying to watch more Hongkong movies in preparation for my canto lessons, I am trying to force myself to take this summer. I rly want to visit Hongkong again so I can once again force my family to stop walking every time I see a neon sign bc I simply was so excited I needed to nerd out and take a million photos <3

Did not feel as emotionally connected to this movie compared to other Ghibli movies, but the scenery is amaze amaze amaze as you can always expect. Being 12 and depressed is so real and being sent out to a small sea town by a doctor like they did in the 18 hundreds with neurotic girls would also cure me of all of my troubles! I should go out in nature more, but then again I did do that a few days ago with a friend and we got full on chased by a hungy sheep so maybe thats more than enough nature for me rn haha (I have never run that fast haha maybe it could sense that we are family #lamgang) 🏃♀️🐑

Can I just say wow it was so good I can't even think of anything to say to describe it fully. It feels like one of those movies they will talk alot about in the future so I rly wanted to experience it in the momentum, also it was so cool to get my first viewing experience in 70 mm. I have been raving all about it to my mom who didn’t understand why this is cool and why im so hyped so yeah feeling like a bit of a filmbro/nerd haha. My very disorganised random thoughts I had while watching: - I would love to have Zendaya spawn randomly looking hot and giving me advise - Love the island of big cats wanted to pet all of them - Is this the mythology that inspired that creepy ass scene that horrified me as a child in Spirited away?! - I wish I had this back in High school when we were studying greek mythology - Robert is rly gaslight gatekeep girlbossing the narrative
