It
i see a lot of reviews comparing this one to the 2017/2019 films which is like. i mean duh of course it's so easy to compare this to those but i feel like trying to do that and do it seriously in a review is a little bit silly because IT 1990 and IT 2017, while they are both still adaptations of the novel, feel so vastly separate from each other in a lot of aspects. they are certainly very different, especially considering that they are essentially the same story.
that said, i liked this in the end WAY more than i thought i would. all of the stuff with the losers as kids is pretty shaky and inconsistent-- i don't feel like they get any true characterization or an authentic sense of friendship until they reunite in derry as adults, but their friendship by then is CUTE. the losers are SILLY in this. i ADORE them.
as an adaptation this movie show compilation thing kind of sucks i have to say but AS IT IS i did have a really nice time with it. giving it 3 stars because when it missed it really did miss but when it was good i was having a blast. it's such an early 90s television special but that's half the charm. i didn't find tim curry particularly scary because of that but he was absolutely entertaining which more than made up for it. IT 1990 is less horror and more parable, but i think that's great.
anyways. eddie k you are the twink of all time and i SAW YOU LOOKING AT RICHARD TOZIER'S ASS BOY. beverly marsh i will always love you. bill denbrough, cut off that goddamn ponytail. thank you and goodnight
