can i just start off by saying that Inde is truly what made this so enjoyable for me and a huge part of the reason for my rating. she was absolutely enchanting and gave Nikki such complex and raw characteristic that was genuinely insane to witness. my qualm, i think, is that we know bear is the villain and he is portrayed as such in the film⏤ but i also believe that this ultimately is STILL inherently harmful to women when there's a demographic of people that can watch this and have the main takeaway be 'i had a crazy ex gf like that once' and disregard the painfully obvious context of losing your own autonomy as the bigger picture and quite frankly, the main reason why this is psychological horror. Bear is clearly the antagonist and Nikki the victim, but it's hard to ignore how easily those lines can be blurred when you're dealing with a population of men whose biggest fucking fear is being #metoo'd. despite all that, i still think this was really grotesque and scary in its own way. it honestly makes you question the intent of those who watch it and can only get to the superficial surface because FYM OUU SHIII???
