A Clockwork Orange
another great addition to incredible movies I’ve watched just this week. I was especially drawn to Kubrick’s unique and stylised camera angles - particularly his use of wide-angle lenses and low-angle shots - which effectively heighten the film’s disturbing, surreal, and dystopian atmosphere. I also loved the darkly comedic tone of the dialogue, especially in the voice-over narration. Malcolm McDowell delivers his lines with a perfect blend of charm and detachment, often mocking societal institutions through exaggerated politeness, which makes the grotesque content strangely hilarious. The film explores several fascinating themes - from the hypocrisy of the prison system, the church, and the media, to the nature of violence itself, questioning whether it’s inherent to human nature or a product of society. As always with Kubrick, I was captivated by the set design, particularly his striking use of colour and lighting. Low 9/10.Kubrick Ranked: (preference)1. Eyes Wide Shut2. A Clockwork Orange3.
