A classic for a reason, very cute romcom didn’t expect it to be so loving. It’s also such a well paced movie, we are hanging out with these two in the span of their lives through an energetic beat. We need to bring back hanging out as a genre let me live briefly in people lives in the movies, it’s fun, has jokes and drama. Man….i miss hanging out. Great movie not much to say it’s one of those movies you watch and understand why it’s popular!

Unfortunately it needed to be weirder for it to stick. It’s not a bad….movie…idk. I actually like Johnson work (blackberry, NTBTM) but this movie was not engaging however it has very good VFX work! I’m really impressed of things outside of the plot and movie itself. I find the mixing of old footage to current footage done really well as someone who has tried their hand in VFX it’s really hard! So I’m always appreciative and amazed at seamless looking work. The car chase scene was good and definitely felt scrapper than most modern scenes making it feel real in a way I haven’t felt in a while. The movie itself doesn’t hold, our characters aren’t interesting enough nor their relationship to each other very strong. I unfortunately think Matt is also not a character engaging enough to follow, even though he makes the most movement there’s a writing aspect of this movie that doesn’t feel strong making the audience feel a bit bored despite it going through the proper steps of a story doing it well. There’s some fun shots, I enjoy the little montage for moon dupe sites, the Ripley esq shots of forgery and of course that rectangular door shot of loneliness. I also like the moon landing shooting scene where Matt reflects off Owens glass, that was nice. Cool premise but unfortunately falls flat due to a lack of energy writing wise, it needed some more umph to stick harder but it’s not an awful movie.

Didn’t realize it was basically a 3h movie! It was fun, mostly felt bad for the guy. This movie really puts you in his visual headspace which is really sad because his fight with OCD is serious. I felt bad for him multiple times, it’s a hard condition! I’m shocked he lived until 70, but wow was he strong to power through. This movie has actors you would never expect to see with DiCaprio which is so funny, also a movie that makes you realize DiCaprio has looked boyish for a LONG time. He’s 30 in this movie! You can tell he’s 30 but he still looks not the way we see him now it’s fascinating the slowest aging white guy perhaps? Great looking movie, very opulent in its portrayal of the rich at the time, not my favourite but it is a good movie!

All fun and games until you realize you have it pretty good, don’t you, camera boy. This movie is meta, a movie is filmed a documentary crew films the movie and another crew films the in between. It’s fun as in the concept, how it’s presented, and the lightning in the bottle quality of the movie because of the time period it was filmed. I love a movie that can capture a time period flaws and all. (excessive use of faggot and philosophy of definition of the word faggot kinda like whatever to me it’s the 70s I expected it) Another thing about this movie I love is how the director motivations you genuinely can’t tell so you don’t know even by the end of this was the point the whole time or a happy accident. Either way the ending is the most impactful part of the movie. Here we are getting wrapped up in the situation this experiment provides, the comedy of it then reality interjects itself. Someone very real shows up and shows you how easily privileged it is to be able to make a movie about a movie, being an artist in a city that can be so cruel. The ending of the movie, to me, shows how time really hasn’t changed, privilege of annoyance is nothing compared to others lives, perspective is everything and some of us are lucky to just fool around making or watching movies. Even if you don’t get the movie you are making or watching.
