Good Time
❝Alright, listen... I'm gonna go take a shit in that guy's house... and then I'll be back, alright?❞

Holy shit. I swear to God, if I was Connie, I would've offed myself the second things started going awry.
High-octane, bonkers and never letting up, Good Time was insanely captivating. I don't think I took my eyes off the screen at all for the entire duration, and according to my fitness watch my heart rate was above 120 bpm for the majority of the film. I absolutely loved the camerawork, like the God's eye shots of the car and towards the end and tracking shots following Connie especially. The colour pallete was simultaneously dark and gaudily bright, thanks to the great lighting, and it helped add to the psychedelic atmosphere as well as allude to future events in the film. The score was so bumping which again fueled the intense feeling of panic; electronica was the only correct answer and I'm glad the Safdie brothers got Oneohtrix Point Never to compose.
Robert Pattinson is truly a chameleon. It's hard for me to find another actor who could've portrayed Connie so well, and though I haven't watched much of his filmography, all of his performances so far have been great (even Edward Cullen; it takes a certain kind of skill to play that dork). It was kind of difficult to watch Connie manipulate people with such ease while always sounding highly guilty, especially when it came to him taking advantage of Nick. The whole film is centered around him trying to get Nick out of prison because of 'love', but in my opinion he needed someone he knew intimately in order to manipulate them into aiding his crimes. If he truly loved Nick, he wouldn't have pulled him out of the meeting with Peter to immediately go rob a bank.
That leads me onto Benny Safdie, who was so good as Nick despite not having much screen-time. Those final scenes while the credits are rolling almost brought me to tears, watching him slowly trust the group and engage in the activity more. I felt so bad for him when he was stuck in prison, not able to understand the social 'rules' and getting hurt, but at least by the end he was getting help to manage his condition.
I really liked Ray's character; he unintentionally brought a lot of comedic relief and it was fun to see how he clashed with Connie (that monologue in the car outside White Castle was one of my favourite scenes in the whole film, alongside Ray trying to climb the fence outside Adventureland). Buddy Duress (God rest his soul) was also perfect for the role and he was smashing (literally 💀).
Good Time is definitely going in my favourites list. Apparently Uncut Gems has similar stress-inducing capabilities so maybe I'll give it a go (though maybe not very soon - my heart hasn't recovered yet).
