Superman
❝I wake up every morning, and despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other, and I try to make the best choices that I can. I screw up all the time, but that is being human, and that's my greatest strength.❞

Tears were rolling down my face in the theatre. This is what it is to be a superhero: a symbol of good and optimism, uplifting those who can't stand on their own, working to keep evil at bay and spreading hope.
Superman is bright, colourful and heartening, just like its titular character and his actor. David Corenswet is absolutely perfect; his cheeriness is so infectious, it's a wonder no-one else at The Daily Planet is head-over-heels. Above all else, he's profoundly human, as he himself declares, and is able to heal from his trauma, rather than weaponise it. The film doesn't shy away from his struggle with his dual nature, and highlights his vulnerability and huge capacity for love. Every relationship Clark has is undoubtedly complex, be it with Lex, Lois, or even random citizens, and it's beautiful.
Lex is comically obsessed (pun intended) which makes him a character that's fun to root against, and Nicholas Hoult did such a great job portraying how hell-bent Lex is on defeating his nemesis; even people who didn't have a clue about the comics were laughing at him ragebaiting Superman.
Rachel Brosnahan had so much chemistry with David and her Lois was the kind of woman I aspire to be: confident, strong, and willing to do whatever she could to help.
As far as the rest of the cast goes, I was loving every performance, but my favourites were definitely Mr. Terrific and Guy Gardner; really good comedic delivery from both of them.
The camerawork and cinematography were gorgeous, of course, and the mix of CGI and animatronics throughout was awesome, but what really elevated the whole experience for me was the soundtrack - even now I can feel tears welling up in my eyes thinking about it. John Murphy and David Fleming created a masterpiece that I'm sure resonated with every single person in the theatre, because interweaved in the electric guitar notes and strings was the belief that things would change for the better.
Maybe it's odd for me to think this, but Superman filled me with a lot of joy, and I'll carry the hope I got from it tucked into my heart for a long time.
