A Taxi Driver
before I dropped out of film school, I helped make a documentary on someone who claimed to be a "bigfoot hunter." when we recorded he'd hold such a strong belief that he lives in the forests, he was in the footage that we caught. When we tried to show him that there wasn't anything, it kept being something else.
So many times we get stuck in beliefs that remain unchallanged, and its hard to see from the outside what we look like to folks who experience the harsh reality and the truth we aren't willing to entertain to believe.
When I watch A Taxi Driver I watch a man so submitted to this truth, until he even has to face the very real truth. That maybe you do have to look after one another, that maybe the military you were apart of us actually capable of committing acts of violence unwarrently to bystandards.
It takes everything in order to change our belief structures, and we desperately need to challange them every day, or we radicalize, we lose touch with the real honest to god truth.
