I was really late to watching all these classics, (just watched cowboy beebop this last month and Evangelion in the last year etcetc.) I think when I was younger I always felt shamed out of anime, or there were too many steps to watch it back when I was younger. But now I’m in this stage of trying to figure out what my favourite anime is of all time and this has to be it. The consistent off the wall ness of it and it’s sincerity and style just hit very close to the things I like and even to things I didn’t know I liked watching.  Wonderfully quirky show.
