Paterson
I really really like this. There’s a clear simplicity to it that I feel many people will write off as boring but I don’t find that to be the truth. The story reflects a certain part of my own life. I find that I’m constantly doing the same thing I wake up go to school then work and repeat with breaks in between for movies, games, eating, sleeping etc. Although those breaks do exist they don’t free me from the cycle due to the fleeting nature. I feel that this movie perfect shows the cycle I feel at the peak of me being annoyed with it.
I think the character dynamic with Paterson and his wife is great. Although Paterson repeats the same things constantly he always finds some new interesting characters to appreciate which he does. On the other hand his wife is always looking for a purpose but never leaves the house thus posing the question who’s truly living?
I love how Jarmusch has plot points that could lead to a grand story but he never does it because most of the time life isn’t anything incredible although it may seem it could be it’s typically simplistic. Every person in the bar is in the bar every night as everyone’s lives are the same not bad but the same. I feel like I could talk about this forever there’s so much I loved. My only nitpick is the music is overbearing at times but it’s ok.
