1917
The war film everyone is talking about, 1917 follows two young British soldiers as they cross enemy lines to stop an attack. The film is unique to most war films with its brilliant cinematography, with the whole film being one endless take, it is so seemingly edited together and it spends its focus on its two leads which allows us to see every single moment they go through.
With direction and the story written by Sam Mendes he managed to capture just two men in a war of thousands, played by George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman as Lance Corporals Will and Tom it's easy to get quickly attached to these two men and you go through the story and its emotions with them. Add in a brilliant score by Thomas Newman and you have all the elements for a great film.
Easily my favourite war film of recent years, 1917 brings you right into and makes you feel part of the action.
