Stand by Me

Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman and Jerry O'Connell play four young friends as they set out on a hike to see a dead body, but the film isn't about that body it's about the journey and the friendships. All of these young actors were brilliant, they conveyed the immature aspects of children and yet deep relationships, especially between Gordie and Chris, are extremely prominent and well performed. The fact these two children could make me feel emotional and see their bond surprises me, I'm used to children in films being somewhat annoying brats. The writing by Stephen King (also based on his novella The Body), Bruce A. Evans and Raynold Gideon and the directing by Rob Reiner undoubtedly deserve the highest credit. This is a film I will never forget and I am sure I will rewatch it many times in the future. 🔙 Out 🔜 Girl, Interrupted 📝 Watched in 2020 📝 80s Ranked 📝 52 Week Film Challenge 2020 - Week 20 - A Coming of Age film
