Boiling Point
STRONG 7.
very, very good. this TV-extension of the film of the same title expands on the story in a fresh way — sure, you lose the “one-take” appeal, but you hold onto the very same mega-anxiety that seems to be so prevalent in any commendable kitchen. the show isn’t afraid to create permanent change in the relationships between some of these characters, which gives each consequence a grave gravity.
but, then again, i don't think the show does a very good job with resolving the unique problems that each character faces — concepts of self-harm, alcoholism, capitalism killing art, the stress of the kitchen, etc. are not fully explored, probably due to the time.
might need to watch The Bear to compensate for the lack of a second season of this.
