really surprised that this film has such negative reviews. for most of it, Green Book is a thoroughly enjoyable film that EXCELS when you’re not really worrying about the (complete ABSENCE of) nuance or the questionably delivered messages — at the end of the day, it’s SUPER comforting and i love the characters.
also, watching people EAT is the FUNNIEST shit ever. like, i LOVE it when brad pitt eats in his movies. and viggo mortensen's tony lip takes it up three goddamn notches, just fucking MANHANDLES food in half the scenes that he’s in — TWENTY SIX hotdogs in an hour is diabolical, wicked work.
really love the relationship these two guys have — they fight and fight and fight, but it’s always to get to learn from each other, bring one another into their worlds, share their complex thoughts, and give insight to the purpose behind their tendencies — and, at the end of the day, they’ll smile together and share a laugh. wonderful.
