A Clockwork Orange
Holy crap so good. I read the novel before watching and yeah this perfectly captures and elevates it. Alex is perfectly cast and I LOVE how creative the sets and outfits are. It’s very colorful visually while dealing w dark subject matter. Speaking of which I was worried how they would handle the rape scenes but I think it was done in good taste, we don’t actually see it but it’s still clear to the audience without being gratuitous. I’m not a fan of movies going over the two hour mark but I think every scene was necessary and engaging, and the pacing was good throughout. I’m kind of surprised just how faithful an adaptation this is; knowing how different Kubrick made parts of The Shining I was prepared for some more drastic differences but there were only a few minor ones. This definitely isn’t for everyone and that’s fine but I ate this up, great acting great aesthetics great storytelling I loved it all.
