F1
I remember watching this movie in the cinema with my friends, and us betting on the accident that was bound to happen in Monza. Because Monza plus Rain? Not a good mixture my friend.
Nonetheless, Sonny Hayes was a ingenious man who committed the highest echelon of legal bullshit on the track in order for APXGP to succeed, if that isn’t team spirit i don’t know what is. Joshua Pearce was a straight up nonce at first glance, not downplaying the effort it takes to get into F1 in the first place, his earlier exchanges with sonny set the tone for what was bound to be an interesting duo.
Javier Bardem, the man you are, showing emotional range like no other in a goddamn racing movie. Plus the argument with sonny after the Vegas crash? yeesh.
Then we get to the best part of the movie, not the cars, nor the racing but rather Kerry Condon. This beautiful woman showed how a woman has the capacity to succeed in a field where men are usually omnipresent and to carve out a space of her own there as well. Sole reason why i love irish accents now
