Eddington
I wish I saw this in cinema. It is so well shot, well paced and very relevant despite being set 5 years before the films release. Pedro Pascal was a real stand out in this film and was very different to his previous roles; despite being burnt out from him being everywhere as of late, he was a real breathe of fresh air, despite only having about 20 minutes of actual screen time. Joaquin Phoenix gave an outstanding performance in his role, and really gave everything. Ari Aster is definitely on his way to becoming an auteur in terms of his use of visual storytelling - his use of light, Dutch tilts and camera movements are very reminiscent of his previous works and has very much become staples of his. Additionally, the use of music and sound really added to building tension and has also become a element of his films further building his unique mark as a director. I can see this film becoming historically relevant in years to come in terms of the subject matter. Excellent film, 9.5/10
