LIGHT & MAGIC

[Watched first 3 episodes on the 10th and the last 3 on the 11th] This is a fantastic documentary, a must watch for anyone interested in how films are made. I truly adore this type of documentary and there were genuine moments where I was blown away. It’s always hard as a movie watcher to know the effort and heart put into the art we watch. But this documentary highlights the extraordinary people who created millions of film lovers.  I loved learning all the techniques and the lives of the people behind the camera. Specifically learning about the volume, how matte paintings actually worked, and most importantly the guerrilla filmmaking behind, Star Wars. While this documentary is about the technology and the people behind them, this documentary is truly about a revolution in cinema. From film to digital. This docu-series heavily lists the pros of this change but it actually does talk about the cons as well. Just watch this but bearing in mind the later half of this docu-series has a heavy bias towards digital > film. It’s very pro George Lucas, and pro Disney. But I’m guessing you’d expect that as it’s on Disney plus.  Oh also Phil Tippett and Harrison Ellenshaw have my hearts.
