Eighth Grade
kayla is me, i am literally kayla. sure the movie's cringy but its about EIGHTH GRADERS, we were all weird at that age!! i think this film shows how isolating it is to be different or look different from people in your age range so well plus clinging to people older than you and hoping they'd give you attention and you'd be one of the "cool" kids, i feel so seen by her character. love love love and im so thankful that i left school because i ALWAYS felt like her.
Have to add as well that during the car scene i was up and walking around because i was so stressed, i have such maternal feelings toward her character because ive been in the same sort of situations and i was literally just walking around my room speaking out loud to my screen. bawling my eyes out.
Had to come back and add that she has a hamilton calendar on her wall!!
kids need to be awkward again.
