Love Exposure
What an incredibly unique and fucking insane movie. I almost can't comprehend it all, definitely needs some time to unpack, and there's a lot to unpack.
The scope of this film is incredible and the way the viewer travels through the story is so captivating. Much like A Clockwork Orange, Love Exposure explores depravity and perversion, ultra violence and youth culture, as well as indoctrination, identity, and most importantly love. It gets fucked up at times, but what I love is that it comes and goes. It is not 4 hours straight of wacky violence, walks the line perfectly and has serious moments and bizarre moments that work together.
Never felt boring, even I'll admit some of my favourite "famously long" films like Sátántangó have their dull moments, but Love Exposure just keeps going and keeps evolving and changing and by the end I was wishing it was longer, I needed more.
