Do the Right Thing
i saw this when i was younger but let’s just say i’ve never seen it essentially. also this review isn’t to be taken seriously just more to get my feelings out bc wow
alright spike lee has done a FEW things where i’m like ? but he’s also done MANY things where i’m like !!! this is one of those !!!!!!!! things
this movie felt almost theatrical if that makes sense? very vibrant and very lively. it was almost nauseating (in a good way ofc) to see this depiction of black culture on the screen like it felt like watching my mom, my siblings, my cousins, my uncles, my aunts, childhood friends, etc, and the dialogue felt too close to home.
this really just makes me wanna revisit school daze, mo better blues, she’s gotta have it, & crooklyn (this is the perfect time too, being black history month)
also buggin’ out is so real. i too enter many establishments and think “where tf are all the black people”
OH and thinking about all the heavy hitters in this???? samuel jackson, robin harris, ruby dee, ossie davis, giancarlo esposito, rosie perez… also i fall in love with joie lee every time she’s on the screen. spike lee is smart asf for seeing his sister’s talent (my brother could NEVER) and beauty
