Hellbender

A fun and interesting movie that I think is actually very successful with the “sheltered-kid, suspiciously protective mom” plot line. It reminded me of The Ringing of the Bell, from Over the Garden Wall. The dynamic between mother and daughter is the key to the movie’s success. It’s not very subtle and I had a sense where the movie was headed early on, but despite that I really loved the role reversal and twist dynamics by the end. The only thing that would’ve made this a 5-star would be a finale that better matched the action potential of the beginning. Overall I definitely recommend if you like witchy, wicked horror.
