Before Sunset
“we are the sum of all the moments of our lives and that anybody who sits down to write is gonna use the clay of their own life”
I was so in love with the first movie that i thought nothing could ever even come close to that level as i’ve seen a lot of sequels just downgrade, but this movie really surprised me.
It’s not a romance packed movie some of us thought it would be, it’s entirely another thing. It’s like the grey area between what love could have been and what love actually is. It gives the leads space to express their anxiousness towards reality and towards what has become of their life despite of all their dreams and hopes of when they were in their twenties. the thirties throw them off completely from what they were in the first movie as they’re not who they thought would be.
starring off with awkward small talk they progress to venting out. they’re seen yearning to return to that december in vienna with their body language: a glance, a retrieved hand, a subtle touch. reality weighs them down and for a moment, in clarice’s apartment they’re back in vienna.
i loved it with all my heart and how i yearn to have real conversations as they did.
