The Journalist
Fantastic. Finally... a communication and press-themed movie (teary-eyed).
It really opened my eyes to so many things. It showed me that the future of our country truly depends on the actions we choose to take. These days, young people often seem apathetic about this kind of news. They think that even if they care or speak up about it, nothing will change. At least, that’s what they tell themselves. But honestly, nothing is impossible to fix—not even a f*cked up country—if people, no matter their role in society, come together and take action.
This movie also shines a light on how important journalists are, something a lot of people don’t seem to appreciate in today’s world. Nowadays, it feels like people, especially the younger generation, tend to ignore news that actually matters. Journalism is often seen as outdated or not “cool” anymore. Some parents even discourage their kids from becoming journalists, thinking it’s not profitable or a practical career choice.
What they don’t realize is that being a journalist is so much more than they think. Like Anna Matsuda says in the movie, being a journalist means giving a voice to the voiceless, saying the things others can’t. Journalists play such a huge role in society, and they deserve way more credit than they get.
