genuinely one of the best movies ive seen in a while. i remember starting this years ago and never finishing. i cant believe i didnt. completely up my alley this movie!! my only gripe is the way they handled the pedophile dad storyline. it was a little too on the nose and at times to me felt almost… too satirical? like it was played off for laughs a few times too often. the conclusion was decent though, in my opinion, ill give it that. gut wrenching. the miserably perverted suburban americana that oozed from this movie was absolutely delightful though. i cant believe everyone wasnt trying to eat phillip seymour hoffman alive. god he was beautiful.

havent been to the theater in a while. this was such a masterfully crafted and beautifully frightening film. the relentless nostalgia and nauseating uncanny feeling thats present from start to end was such a joy to experience. its awesome to see something ive grown up with be turned into something canonically expanded on the big screen and done WELL. modern folklore is alive and well!!!!
