Cure
I think I’ve never been that affected by a thriller movie, the editing of this movie and the long shots makes it feel like you’re in a hypnotic state. The movie used the sound to make you feel a kind of pressure, and when everything is supposed to be loud, it’s a silent moment, for example when he realised that his wife was dead he was screaming but in silent. Let’s talk about that scene where his wife (died), the whole moment is so well controlled by the director, between how confused it is how I was shocked seeing her like that, and at the exact moment where I got used to it like after 6 seconds, surprise, he was hallucinating, this added a double layer of twist which hunted me for the rest of the movie. The use of sound and silence in this movie is absolutely amazing, sometimes you could hear a disturbing background noise that you can’t even see, I almost thought that my speaker was broken. That’s probably the only Japanese movie I’ve watched but I’ll never forget this movie even after watching a million.
