In honor of this masterpiece breaking the ALL TIME Oscar nomination record, I decided to give it a rewatch.
We live in a world where creativity, authenticity, and originality are put on the back burner, but the craving for those things will always exist, and Sinners satisfies that craving in a major way. Ryan Coogler crafts a film that is so rich in culture and pays tribute to the past but also succeeds at being superbly unique and innovative.
Simultaneously the funniest movie of the year and one of the most emotionally impactful films of the year, this thing could literally win all 16 of those Oscars and I would not complain.
Ryan Coogler will be seen as a great when it’s all said and done, this strong of a filmography at less than 15 years in the game is insane, and Sinners solidifies him forever.
I love this shit so much.
