Angel's Egg
Best movie I have ever seen. The way everything is done is truly amazing. From the foreshadowing from 2-3 second in to the last scene is just soo good. The last scene never ceases to amaze me how much I watch it. The man and the girl both are amazingly crafted character even tho they have nearly 1 Min worth of dialogue. The way this movie is made still baffles me like u can literally interpret this movie as different as u like and it would still be amazing.
From my interpretation of this movie it has the best exploration of faith I have ever seen, the way it is explored throughout the movie is just great. Other themes like free will and Identity crisis explored in this movie through man is done exceptionally well. The man is mostly overshadowed by the girl by many people but I think he is equally good, most people treat him like a function for the girl which just undermines his character alot. I don't need to say anything for the girl that haven't been said already, like she is the main focus of the whole movie. The dynamics between the girl and the man is soo well done, let me give u an example like their contrast in characterization is soo well done, the man is an adult and the girl is a child, the man having short white hair and the girl having short white hair, the man not believing in faith (symbolised through him breaking the egg) Vs the girl being overly obsessed with faith and more. So these small details just make their dynamics so good. I don't wanna talk about other aspects of their dynamics since it would be a drag. There are other character like fishmen who are overshadowed by the girl too, the way the movie critics blind faith through fishmen is something I found very fascinating. I can talk about these characters in depth for hours but imma leave it with these surface level thought for now.
This movie uses the symbolism so well. Like I'm someone who wasn't familiar with Christianity and after watching the movie and doing some research I was amazed by how well the Christianity symbolism is done. From the Noah ark symbolism, to the coloured glasses, Jesus symbolism through Man, Marie symbolism through girl, the angels symbolism through the birds and many more. The use of symbolism in this movie is the best one I have ever seen. The way Taula (you can search in Google, it's a type of stone) shown at the end of the movie connects with the real world makes this movie so realistic that its scary. There are alot of other symbolism too like the land being chessboard ( symbolising how the man never had free will), the electricity poles ( symbolising how despite there being electricity people are using candles showing their ignorance due to being overly obsessed with their faith), the whole island being a single ark and implying there are other arks like the one shown (symbolism how this whole everything is a cycle and after the destruction of the current ark new ark will be born and the cycle will continue, the ark can be compared to our world or universe implying how everything will end and again be reborn in cycle). There are many other great symbolisms too talking about which will be very long so I will leave it for now.
The overall message of the movie is different for everyone as per their interpretation which is just so amusing like two person watching the same movie can feel like they have watched different movie. It's soo crazy to think about it. Another aspect I love the most about this movie is how rewatchable it is, like everytime I rewatch the movie I get something new from it. I know this movie might not be for everyone due to the way it is structured and the arstyle can be a turn off for many people too but I just want to implore you to watch it cause even though u might not like it u will inevitably get something out of the movie and it's only 70min too.
So, watch this movie and if you have already then rewatch it cause rewatching makes it so much better. Love this movie alot can't even describe it through words. Imma stop at this cause I cause if I continue it would be too much drag lmaoo.
