The Thing
really tense and paranoid film. it’s creates this constant eerie feeling that something is wrong from the very start. the antarctic setting is perfect. it’s makes everything feel isolated and uncomfortable, and once the paranoia sets in it becomes terrifying knowing nobody can really trust anyone. among us vibes. the idea that anyone could be the creature is used so well. it makes you question every conversation as to whos still human. the practical effects are great, not just for how disturbing and gross they are, but for how unpredictable and unnatural the monster feels. watching the group slowly fall apart is scary and you just know they’re not making it out alive. the ending is great. it’s bleak and leaves questions, staying true to the paranoia the film builds the whole way through.
