Frankenstein
Sins of the father absolved by the son, two "generations" it takes with Victors father, and then himself in which both him and the monster break the cyclical nature of sin, and egoism. Truly beautiful, one of the most stunning and striking Guillermo films, from the reds that seem to haunt Victor to the beauty of the monster itself.
The final shot harkening back to one of the first things Victor said to the monster, "Sun. Light. Sunlight. Face it. The sun is life. The sun is warmth." Such a poignant bookend that the film cleverly plants early on, almost a nod as well to one of the titles of the book by Mary Shelly, The Modern Prometheus.
My favorite line by far is said by Victor, “While you are alive, what recourse do you have but to live? Live”. Victor never truly got to live, his father wanted him to be what he was, Victor blinded by his hate for death, and love for his mother unbeknownst to him becomes his father. His actions towards the monster nearly cause it to do the same, but in the final act of acceptance they both realize neither as truly lived, the line to me is almost like a second gift of life that Victor is giving to his creation, his son.
