Bugonia

Holy moly. Semi spoilers. I needed to sit with this before i wrote out my review but omg. I went into this completely blind and was blown away. Not only were the performances from each actor absolutely incredible but this is such an amazing and thought provoking movie and i haven’t had an experience like this in a while. It was funny and edgy and about 3/4 of the way in i sat forward in my chair and locked in. I love that sci fi is still holding up so well thanks to movies like this that push your boundaries. When they introduced the alien plot i thought it would be a predictable play out but it was so good at keeping me guessing until literally the last moment of the movie and it was so obscure and almost fun in a way that it caught me off guard. I will say i was not ready for a couple of the scenes in here ie don and the whole shock scene made me look away and feel nauseous. Emily stone has found someone that understands her capabilities as an actor and i LOVE seeing her in weird shit like this. I’m pretty sure this was the actor who played dons first movie which is insane because he was absolutely phenomenal and the chemistry and energy he had with jesse was played out SOOOO WELLLLLLL GOD. And the soundtrack and composition was just genius truly. Bugonia and sinners are in a head to head battle for movie of the year
