Boyhood
There’s a lot that could be said about this movie but something that sticks out to me is how not black and white the parenting is. This movie just kind of showed the truth of real life. You expect the absent dad to be a horrible father and say damaging things and for the single mother to stay with the abusive new husband but these things don’t happen. Their dad isn’t there and doesn’t have his life together but he’s honest and straightforward and cares. Their mom drags the kids through many abusive and damaging situations that she didn’t expect could happen but she’s strong enough to leave for the kids.
