Solaris
watched the first bit with my grandpa. he told me that, during the soviet union, Tarkovsky was a highly renowned director, but that his movies (including Solaris) faced a lot of difficulties during production and distribution due to the state censors. after having watched Stalker and now this, it's obvious that Tarkovsky's films are just always spiritually stimulating and super contemplative throughout. i guess there was no place for that in the soviet union. my grandpa also isnt a huge fan: he says, "if it doesn't have a horse and there are no police, id rather not watch it." fair enough gramps.
this film is so beautiful. solaris feels like both a faraway dream and an immediate reality. tarkovsky puts into question the meaning behind life, nature, humans, and consciousness. what does it mean to be? just my type of brain food. im mad hungry. hangry.
i dont rly know what to say. solaris is a perfect movie for me and i really wna revisit it again sometime.
if u like silent hill, ull love this
