God what an excellent film I can’t believe it took me almost 10 years to finally watch it. The deer they hit taking out the mirror on his side as an easter egg for the deer in the room when he realizes he’s been sold to a blind man for his sight gave me chills. A modern twist on the concept of stripping black people of their autonomy to essentially keep them as property and how hard it is to be taken seriously by authorities. Even when a literal MISSING PERSON appears in a photo looking completely different months after disappearing the cops just take it as “well he’s obviously not missing anymore” just shows how easily cases get slipped up. Allison Williams is such a master of playing crazy, when she knows Rod is recording her so changes her narrative to talking about how she knows he wants her so that no one will take him seriously was bone chilling, and I was really hoping she wasn’t in on it. It really shocked me with how many twists he was able to fit even into just the last 15 minutes of this movie. So happy I went into it completely blind, it had me yelling at my screen like a man watching football, how one movie can be so funny yet moving yet politically relevant and important is amazing to me hats off to Jordan Peele this is one of the most well written and directed films I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching.
