Alien
#14 spooky season watch
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
The alien isn’t just a monster, its domination. It’s almost poetic how the film flips the usual horror dynamic: this time it’s the men who are violated, impregnated, stripped of control. It’s weird as if the universe reclaiming its balance through violence (bc women are typically the ones who suffer SA)
Then you have ‘Mother’, the ship (and the company) pretending to protect while treating people like they’re disposable. It’s that quiet kind of cruelty, the kind that wears the mask of care that makes it disturbing.
And then there’s Ripley. She survives not because she’s stronger, but because she refuses to let the fear consume her. She becomes what “Mother” was supposed to be: the one who protects.
I think that’s what stayed with me the most is that even when everything around us is mechanical or cruel, there’s still something human that rises. Something that fights back, even if it’s just to stay alive. That’s what makes it comforting.
