Oldboy

Hahahaha fucking hell😭 One of them classics where I just had the unshakable 5 star vibe from the jump. It’s pretty hard to avoid a preconceived idea of how good a film is rated overall but I’ve watched a few universally acclaimed films recently (the green mile, gladiator, Aftersun) that I thought were good/great but never got that vibe from. This was just brilliant. My first Park Chan-Wook and I loved his style so much. Luckily I have a few more of his films lined up in the immediate watchlist because I’m keen to dive in.  This shit was fucking insane man. I think I accidentally got the twist spoiled and vaguely remembered it but it still hit me like a brick when it was revealed😭this was such a great genre mash, thrilling, genuinely great action scenes (the hallway one was like peak 90s side scroller game shit) and I was also surprised by how funny this is at times. A couple well written and delivered jokes early in. Flows so nicely and is a very digestible 2 hour thriller with some of the most evil plot twists of all time. So so so fucked up. 10/10
