Genuinely love this movie start to finish, Ryan Gosling delivers a masterclass performance in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive. It was even better on the rewatch. I had completely forgotten how hard this movie hits. Got to see the interview with the films editor Matt Newman and he takes us into the process of how Drive was put together into the masterpiece it is. Seeing the creative process between Matt and director Nicolas Winding Refn made me appreciate this movie so much more. There’s nothing more badass than a dude driving in his car at night listening to music. That’s exactly the idea they had in mind and the soundtrack is class with bangers like Night-call and A Real Hero. The music is one of my favorite aspects of this film and is probably why it works so well on-top of the beautifully composed score by Cliff Martinez who did his big one with this one. The most enjoyed moment on the rewatch was the opening scene which sets the mood for this film so well with the brilliant camerawork that remains consistently throughout the whole film so props to Newton Thomas Sigel. Really looking forward to rewatching this masterpiece sometime in the near future, Drive (2011) will go down as a classic of the 2010’s.
